Getting excited . . .
« on: October 09, 2008, 04:01:12 pm »
. . . as off to see Les Westaway next week to order some new skates!  I have been making do with my very low level Riedells (which have been okay as I am an ice dancer rather than freestyle) but now it is time for me to go an spend an extortionate amount of money on myself  (well it is my birthday today, lol).

I am rather tempted to get some SP Teri's if they feel good - I hear mostly good things about them, and if I do that, I can get some ordered with lambswool tongues so my poor mashed up ankles (I am a barefoot skater) can have something soft and fluffy against them   ;D   Will also be getting Coronation Dance blades as well - that will be interesting getting used to the shorter backs!!

Hehe - who thought I would get so excited about buying something, lol.

Any SP Teri wearers here?

After chatting with Les, he thinks SP Teri's might be the ones I like as well . . . but happy to try all of 'em!!

I would like to get a dance boot though if possible, hence why thinking about SP Teri Dance.

Yes - we've already chatted about price . . . .  :coolsmiley:

Teri Dance aren't TOO much more than say, Gam Ultra 0095's though and if they suit my wider feet, then it will be worth it.  As I am not a freeskater, I intend on them lasting 3 years at least!!

I don't have sp teri but know alot of skaters who have and love them. I have klingbeil which are on a similar budget level and upwards  O0and can definitely vouch for the lambs wool tongues. They are wonderful

Ooh - did you get stock Klingbeils or custom made?

And did you order through someone in the UK or direct from Klingbeil?!

I'll be pushing the boat out with SP Teri so can't afford Klingbeil just yet, but thinking in three years when my new boots will be old and decrepit . . . .  ;D

I got a custom boot after a number of different boots and like so many others, I had the gams from les!!  It has been a learning experience though. The Klingbeil is a fantastic boot and so comfortable but I would personally get a softer boot this time (I've had them 5 years with 3 years skating and bearly creased them!!!) and would get a lower cut back as I struggle a bit with toe placement in jumps and any toe steps but that is more my personal physiology than a criticism of the boot. they are wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone.

I got them through Ian Robertson at specialist skating services in Blackburn. he great thing is that Klingbeil keep the moulds of your foot so can used the exact same shape when you re order a new pair.

Not sure what make mine are. They are second hand but still very sturdy and supportive. Think they are italian ones, bet they were expensive when  new as they do feel like a good quality boot.  And they do have lambswool lining to tongues.   Have looked for a label all over them but never found one :-\   I keep them for lessons and use my other boots for practise and recreational sessions.

Got my new skates, and yep they are SP Teri Dance.  And I luuuurve them!!  Even though I am a few hundred pounds poorer than I was this morning!!!

I was impressed by the sheer amount of padding in the tongues already, so decided to forgo the lambswool tongues, so I could take them home today (otherwise, they could have taken WEEKS to arrive!).

Coronation DAnce blades as well, which look absolutely tiny compared to the entry level blades on my Riedells!!!!   ;D
