Defibrillator at rinks

It's a topic that has come up a bit recently; does your rink have one, or one nearby?

If not, would you chip in/donate if the ice rink did a fundraiser to get one?

This is something that came up in conversation at the rink a week or so ago. The defib link shows that there is one at Planet Ice Bristol, but none of us had any idea that there was one or where it might be. I shall check that out next time I'm up there.

But yes, I think that every rink should have one. And all the staff should have basic knowledge of when and how to effect its operation, obviously in conjunction with the 999 emergency services.

Would I "chip in" to fund one for a rink that didn't have one? That would depend on the rink owners/management, but in theory, yes.
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

I’ve no idea about defibrillators but I noticed Flippers roller rink in London had a paramedic on duty- they obviously have a big budget!

There's one on the wall outside the building - I'd prefer one inside but you could run to where it is and back in less than a minute, I reckon.

Nearest one to the Ozone ice rink in Bracknell is at Greggs, affixed to the outside wall on the opposite side to the main road; this one is not currently registered on that site though.

I'd prefer one inside

Yeah me too since, unless there's a hockey game on, the majority of people at an ice rink have skates on, which would slow people down a bit.
Makes you think they should have matting to the fire assembly point cause it could delay an evacuation with people trying to take their boots off.

I always keep my walking guards handy by the barrier after the time we had a fire drill at the Sobell - funny it was the first and last fire drill I ever experienced there in nearly two decades, coincided with the place being used as a training venue for teams involved in the 2012 Olympics. That was before they took over half the glorious, gigantic, flexible sports hall with a fixed giant trampoline play park.
