rusty blades!
« on: February 03, 2024, 03:38:47 pm »
hi i've had my skates for around half a year now, and in the beginning i didn't take correct care of them, so they're rusty now! i've been cleaning them properly now, but i wonder if sharpening my skates will get rid of the rust? thank you!

It should certainly help.
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

Yeah, take the guards/soakers off when you get home.

I assume the rust is on the runner part of the blade? If so, yes, a sharpen will remove the rust.

The sharpening wheel will clear the hollow part, then as a finish the burr at the side is sanded away.

Most blades are chrome plated so the rest should be generally okay?
The greatest trick figure skaters ever pulled, was convincing the world it was easy.
