Peter Pan on Ice > Alexandra Palace An amateur show but in my experience always of high quality, with professional voiceover and music, and a very experienced choreographer and scriptwriter.  They audition around August and start rehearsing in September, many of them several sessions a week.

An idea for show skating; something I saw a roller skater do; propel themselves along with a cordless leaf blower! ;D

Some of the European ice shows used to have that kind of novelty style stuff - they used to show them on Eurosport.  Maybe they still do but I have overdosed on skating on TV etc so don't really watch it any more.  I'd like to see the "Le Patin Libre" company perform again, but they don't seem to have plans to return to the UK.

More of a gala than a show.  Putting on a proper pantomime style show on ice is a huge amount of effort - but it's very satisfying for everyone involved and does make £££s for the rink and also acts as a showcase.

Most (all?) of the planet ice rinks are putting on an amateur performance of Wizard of Oz for a Christmas show this year. It's around the end of November.

Does the same team do the choreography for all of them?

Pretty much, I think. There's a corps of professionals who travel to each rink to take the major roles.
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

Is that the Skate Excellence lot?  Do you have any names?  I guess it's nice for people to be exposed to it, on the other hand it seems a shame that skaters at each rink miss out on major roles.  All the cast in the Alexandra Palace shows are home grown skaters, as is the showrunner.  The only thing they buy in is professional voice actors to do the speaking, which really makes a difference.
