Indeed - bet you're counting the days down till the Eden Project has their seasonal rink open.
Less than 3 weeks now..
Is it big enough for a pattern dance?

14th October 2023 until February 2024

Very much so! Well, till half term madness is over... It's not really big enough for pattern dances and most need adjustments to fit, even for skaters with little power. But we can do that.

The group lessons are great fun. Much more tailored to the skaters than a national test structure.
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

Heads-up, it's next weekend!

Lee Valley is running a free public session 09-10 <- all booked out now though.

Thanks for the info.  I am still boycotting "Better" because they restrict session booking to one-hour slots, despite their actual sessions being much longer.  It was brought in to limit numbers and stagger arrivals because of "covid" and the idiots refuse to abandon it.

Curious to hear if anyone on the forum has been to the new LV and also how they are using their twin pads.

I see that BIS have added "free public skating" for those people who have tickets to the Sunday of the British Championships. Don't think I'll be making the trip but...

Sheffield?

I'm guessing so. They didn't make it abundantly clear on their Instagram post, but anybody who has a ticket will know where it is.

It's a long, long way from Cornwall. I made the trip there last year for the Grand Prix but won't be making it for a national championships until we have a higher standard of skating.

I went there for the gala of Europeans when they staged it a few years ago.  I'm not a huge fan of most competitive figure skating, TBH - would rather watch them doing basics, or more artistic stuff like John Curry used to do, or Le Patin Libre.  I saw World's in Nice a few years ago, which was enjoyable.

A generous offer though the space they use for coaching seemed tiny when I was last there.  Nottingham ice rink public sessions have always been horribly busy with ice becoming rough very quickly whenever I have been there.  They have very few public sessions, and not much patch either, compared to other rinks, despite having two pads.  I cannot say I am itching to return there.

Not ice skating per se; but 18th September 2024 is National Fitness Day:

Something for the lesiure centres (with ice rinks) to possibly do a promotion for.
