An embarrassing topic this, but Im going to ask it! After every skating session my figure skates (Jackson Artiste) are completely wet from sweating. This has made them become awfully horribly smelly. I wear edea skating socks, a fresh pair each time. I wipe and dry my blades after each session and put soakers on them but still, they dont dry inside in time between sessions.
I have tried bacteria shoe spray, but that doesnt get rid of the smell.
I have tried those gel bags but they don't seem to do anything, and I have also sewn up little bags myself and filled them with baking soda to absorb the moisture but they too don't do anything noticeable. I've even sprinkled baking soda inside the boots and the foot soles.
Ive asked other people at the rink but they say they just leave theirs in the car, and I can't see how that would help? I don't reallybwant to switch the radiator on just to dry them either.
I'm at the point now that I need to sit away from others whilst putting them on and off because the smell has got so strong.
My question is, how is one supposed to store skates and how to get them dry quick enough inbetween sessions and how to get that nasty mouldy foot smell away? Does anyone else have a problem similar to this and how they deal with it? Thank you
