It always seems to me that the standard is so much lower than ice despite wheels being theoretically more accessible. Not sure if it's the culture, the coaching base, the countries that wheels are popular in simply not producing outstanding athletes, or maybe it is simply harder to do exceptional figure skating on wheels. For a start, the athletes on ice always look like they are going twice as fast compared to wheels.
Perhaps not being an Olympic sport means that the very elite athletes and coaches are not attracted to it.
