Skating Shops near Manchester
« on: October 11, 2016, 01:13:49 pm »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody would be able to recommend any good skate shops around this area? I've been going to the Altrincham rink and decided it's about time I invest in a good pair of skates. The rink has a few skates for sale, but its mostly memorabilia.

I used to inline skate a few years ago but stopped a while after buying a pair of skates as they were a poor fit and hurt my feet, so this time I'd rather do it right and make sure I get fitted. I thought it would be a good idea to make my way to the Puck Stop in Sheffield after seeing advice in the forum... but they stopped stopping figure skates a few months back.

If there are no really good places nearby, I shall get a cheaper pair of skates, I'm thinking the Davos Gold, and then stop by a better store in a few months when I make my way down to London.

So... if anybody knows any good places around the Altrincham/Manchester it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi Adair,

I'm up in Preston, the nearest decent shop I know of is Al's Skate Shop near Blackpool? That's where I got my first skates back in March(ish), a pair of Edea Overtures, £140ish.

Thanks Russpallen :)

I wasn't able to make the trip up there, I went to the Widnes rink skate shop and got myself a pair of Jackson Mystique. Now I must find a place to get them sharpened near Altrincham. I'm sure the rink will do them, but I have yet to check with them.

Thanks, Adair

If you can get over to Sheffield, then there is Puck Stop at the Ice rink

I prefer frozen ice. I will try anything once. I

Most skaters at Altrincham use sk8mum to sharpen their skates.  You can private message her from this forum to make arrangements or speak to one of the rink coaches.

Hi,
I skate at Altrincham and yes if you speak to one of the coaches then they will sort out sharpening for you. If not then Al's skate shop at either Deeside or Blackpool are both good.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks :)

I've PM'ed Sk8mum, and hopefully I hear back from her. :)
