I'm not in the UK, but just wanted to send my good wishes for your skating class adventures! I started out here in the USA with adult group classes just over 4 years ago. I was VERY nervous because I was 50 years old and I thought I'd be with a bunch of 18-year olds, and would feel so out of place. I was needlessly worried, though, because although there were much younger people in the class, the instructor treated us all equally, and to my surprise I was not the worst skater in the group! LOL
I continued with group lessons at various rinks, with various instructors...sometimes enjoying it, sometimes not. Then about 2 years ago I decided to step up my game and hire a private coach. I just felt I wasn't getting enough individual attention out of the group class. It's expensive to have my own coach, but I am progressing so much faster, and I love the individual attention. The group classes were a great way to get started, but I needed the private coach to get further along.
Good luck to you; let us know how it goes!!
