I went a couple of times last year with my husband.

The format for both was similar, but they varied the sessions a little.  There were 4 hour long sessions, 3 on ice and 1 off ice, with small breaks in between.  Trying to recall now - I think 1 was general skills, 1 was a choice between jumps or dance, 1 was spinning and a wrap up and for the off ice, the first time we went it was artistic expression stuff and the other was stretching.  Hard work, if like us you're only used to being on the ice for a couple of hours max, but well worth it - we gained so much from them.  Good coaches and there are enough of them for the groups to be quite small & you're divided out into ability levels.  For the first one, we'd both just passed Skate UK Level 10 and coped fine.  The other people taking the clinic were very friendly and welcoming too.

Hoping to go to the next one, but we've just had kittens and we need to get someone to pop in to feed them as we live quite a way away!  Hopefully we'll see you there!

I've been to quite a few of these and can highly recommend them.  Certainly the best value for money adult camp there is.  Although it helps that it's not too far for me to travel!

On ice sessions are usually split into 3 groups by ability.  Typically, the easy group will cover Skate UK levels and the hard group will have people who are learning lutz or axel.  The groups are split per-session on the ice, for example, in the jumps session they will ask you what jumps you want to work and and put you in a group accordingly.  In the other sessions you will be re-grouped, so if you're jumps are weak you won't be "stuck" in the lower group for the other sessions.

The only thing I would say is that they do seem to be geared more towards free skating than dance.  Although at some of the camps, some have specifically requested to do dance and the coaches are happy to accomodate that - it may depend on numbers.  If you wanted to do dance, you might be best to see if you can speak with one of the coaches for more info.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your replies guys :) Sounds good especially for the cost so I'll get my name down tomorrow whilst I'm there.  I'm hoping that my house purchase completes by then so i'll only be 0.8 miles away so not too far to travel!

I went to one last year and it was great fun, it is more centred to free and I second what skatey has put about assessing what you can do but changing it if you're better at spins than jumps.

Enjoy, I'd be going but from where I've moved to its now too much of a trek  :-[

My spins not including back spin really need attention and so do my jumps so hopefully it will do me some good

I'm not doing the group lessons at the minute I'm taking a breather and waiting for my daughter to catch up. I did go to my first adult dev on Wednesday which was fun but really difficult I'm really looking forward to the next though so i may see you there
