I skate regularly at Uttoxeter. Daytime is pretty much dead when the schools are in, they offer Skate UK group lessons and private lessons. Private lessons are £6 for 15 minutes on public sessions. Skate UK courses are £60 per 6 week course. Skate sharpening is £3.50 a time I think.

I have private lessons on a Thursday and am absolutely loving it, my coach (the only full time coach at the minute) is really good and I'm finding that private lessons are working better for me than group lessons did as a child.

The rink itself is small, but the building is OK and the staff are really friendly. There's a couple of places to eat nearby as well.

Don't suppose you know how small, dimension-wise?  Not been myself but before it opened I mistook photos of it for a close up shot of one of these http://images03.olx.com/ui/4/65/30/64206530_1-Pictures-of-Electronic-Air-Hockey-Table-7.jpg

Can't imagine it is too busy any day, evening patches are usually ok and it was practically empty the day we went over the summer hols.

According to VIOI Wednesday evening is now dance group - and well done to them O0 O0   Pity they didn't get a reasonably sized rink with such enthusiasm from coaches and learners.  Some other rinks could well use that enthusiasm.

Sounds like you should be going to that ;)

Can't imagine it being too busy; the coaches seem helpful, enthusiastic and interested, but the management doesn't really go out of their way to promote it.  It won't take too many improving skaters, combined with some of the GP, to make it busy - and the size is very limiting.

???  Why? I said I wanted to avoid them times?

Do you skate at Uttoxeter isk8? or have you just visited in the past?

I agree with you about the coaches, they are very enthusiastic.

Mojo, my daughter does go on patch on occassion and they are not too busy. But I was more interested about during the daytime. A lovely peep has provided me with some info now also. But thank you very much  O0

Extend your basic skills beyond Skate UK.

Visited a few times in passing.  Too small for me, but hey, it's ice.  I've needed a journey break and have been in the area :-[

I do admire that enthusiasm from the coaches and the friendliness of the people there, so feel that it needs all the promotion it can get to keep it going.  Maybe they'll get a reasonably sized rink some day.

I actually don't mind how little our ice is :) I'm sure I will as I progress, but right now, I like it :)

I love how friendly everyone is, there's a real sense of community, and the coaches are ace. We're just fighting other forces when it comes to getting people through the door and blades on the ice :( If we were allowed to implement half the ideas I've got in my head, I bet it'd be buzzing :)

Now, anyone wanna be my dance partner for our Christmas show? I'm currently partner-less :(

Can you tell us little bit more about the Wednesday dance evening at Uttoxeter.

How many go to it and what are they learning? What time does it start and finish?
