Skate UK course and broken finger
« on: May 14, 2012, 12:44:45 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm currently 1/2 way through my level 5 Skate UK course, but broke my finger last week. Given the circiumstances - the rink I use having awful wet slippery ice, a new tutor, still not being that confident anyway and probably being extra nervous/cautious of a fall - I would rather not skate until the finger is heeled.

Does anyone know the protocol for this? Will I be allowed a refund, or to postpone until the next in take?

I will ask the rink when I go down later but to be honest they're absolutely useless, and I'm not sure the coaches will be able to help.

Thanks in advance,

Lorraine

Oh dear :( Hope it heals soon!

I suppose it depends on the rink, at Nottingham the skate Uk courses are non-refundable and non-transferable but your never know what a bit of charm might achieve.

Good luck

What rink do you skate at? we may be able to give you more info knowing that as each rink is different.

I believe you have a reasonable claim to get some of your money back provided it's a real medical issue that prevents you from skating. Our courses have a disclaimer if you simply change your mind then you get nothing back, however if you have proof medically, you get partial refund.
Legally, if you hurt yourself further because you felt obligated to keep skating and they knew about it. They're somewhat liable. I'm not a lawyer but common sense prevail.

Thank you all for your replies. I skate at Hemel Hempstead, who didn't pick up the phone last night and are yet to return my call  :-\

Fingers crossed - no pun intended ;)
