Boots starting to hurt
« on: April 22, 2012, 04:02:04 pm »
I've had my Jackson Mystique's for nearly 2 years and have always found them to be very comfortable on the whole but just recently, over the last few weeks, they have started to hurt my left foot which is getting really painful. I noticed today that I have got a small, hard lump on the side of my foot just behind my little toe exactly where the boot is pressing. I don't know why the boots have suddenly started pressing on that part of my foot unless it is just because I'm wearing them for a bit longer. Anyway, I don't want to have to buy new boots if I can avoid it as these ones still look like new and my right foot is really comfy in them.

Is there anything I can do to the left boot to help alleviate this problem?

take it to a cobblers and get them to press it out
I don't believe in the no-win scenario. There is always a way to have your cake and eat it!!!

Unless you've changed the footwear you wear off ice recently to wider sorts, like trainers; these can let the foot relax and make the more form fitting shoes (or skating boots) very uncomfortable.

The only other thing I'd suggest is in regard to how you put the boot on; are you seating the heal of the foot against the back of the boot before tightening them up? It could be that your foot is riding forward as you skate and that is squeezing your toes into the front of the boot; the area behind the little toe may be the place that is stopping the foot from going any further.

Good luck either way; hope you get it sorted  :)

A moisturising /softening corn plaster to cut the cycle of irritation causing a lump that gets rubbed.  It could even have been a different pair of shoes that started the cycle off, but the boots are then continuing to irritate it.

What I'm getting (as diagnosed by Google!!) is a Tailor's Bunyon  :(   Today when I skated I wore pop socks instead of the  thick socks I normally wear and I put a gel disc over the sore lump and taped it in place. It was much better but after about an hour or so I started to feel sore on the front of my ankles, both sides, from the pressure of the boots without the padding of the socks and when I got off the ice I could hardly walk as the balls of my feet were really tender, again due to not having the padding from the socks. My poor feet looked totally mangled.
I'm going to try getting the side of the boot pressed out but I'm wondering if I will end up having to wear pop socks with those gel sleeve things over my feet.  Still, cheaper than buying a new pair of boots I guess.
