Hi

BITA have announced that they will be running a Skating Camp for Adults at Ice Sheffield on Thursday and Friday 22nd and 23rd March.

Details are attached.

If you could also bring the information to the attention of fellow skaters in your rink they would be most grateful.

Oh that's an unlucky date clash with the Telford comp isn't it? Or is it mostly aimed at those between SKUK6 and competition level?
Passed level two field moves 29/5/12
Passed level two elements and free 17/6/14

Can anyone who's been to these sorts of things before tell me whether they think it's worthwhile going if I've only just passed Sk uk 6? Also, is it worth going for one day or do you need to do both to really benefit? Thanks

Hi,

Although the min level is SKUK 6, IMHO you will struggle if you have only recently passed level 6, particularly if you only just scraped through. On the camps I have attended most of the other skaters were very close to completing Skate UK or had started on the NISA levels. You need to be good at edges and 3 turns and confident at skating and gliding backwards on one skate. I would also suggest you need to be able to do backward crossovers. This is based on my experience of these and similar camps.

If you look at this post http://www.skatingforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,3836.11.html you will find a lively discussion about these sort of camps. (Start on page 2 with my post)

If you are hoping to be able do something at the end of the two days that you can't do now, you will probably be disappointed.

Is anyone who is on Skate UK levels going on this course.

I am not sure whether to do this one or the scotland skate one.
