The National Ice Centre is pleased to announce this one day development clinic for adult skaters.

The clinic will combine on ice and off ice sessions which will provide skaters with a well rounded, technical knowledge base.

Applications for the clinic will be accepted from skaters aged 16 and over who have already passed Skate UK level seven and have not yet passed NISA Field Moves level four, while spaces last. Each skater will receive three hours on ice and 75 minutes off ice tuition.

The clinic will include  flexibility and jump rotation, technical skills and exercises for figure and dance, in a structured yet fun environment.

The course costs £40 and must be pre-booked as places are limited.

Registration:       13.45
 Start:                     14.15
 End:                      17.45

Now that I know it is going on, I'm curious.

Has anyone been on one before, and can they tell me what happens at one of them? Who does the coaching? Is it suitable for dancers as well as figure skaters?

The people who answered the phone were apparently really helpful - I didn't phone as I've not got much voice left (got a cold).

They said something about working on things you already know and improving them etc (that's all the OH could remember...  ::) )

I'm provisionally booked (testing SkateUK level 7 next week)

Kind of excited because I've wanted to do something like this for ages but I always find out too late.

Hi TexasUK, I've been on a few of these before - they are usually really good, but since we have lost most of our dance coaches I'm not sure whether dancers will be catered for this time. I'll ask my coach next week if she is doing it and will report back. Whenever I've been on the clinics I've refused to do free, so they've catered for me and OH, but it does normally depend on numbers. The off ice sessions are normally really good (less evil than Madrid but good for flexibility, technique etc). Will post information when I find something out... :)

I'm very tempted. But the website says 12 - 2:15pm. So how can there be 3 hours on ice and 75mins off ice???

I really enjoyed the one I attended in Nottingham back in April . . . . Until I fractured my shoulder in the 'jumps class'  :-\

Thanks for the heads up on this, will consider going.  I didn't realise they did them during hockey season.
