Eunice,
Yeah.. I learned to skate in Yogyakarta (Jogja) in Indonesia last year... they use ISI there... I'm really keen to get back into lessons here.. cause it was so much fun.. but still waiting on my boots to arrive... they're over a month late!! Just wanna get back on the ice!! (cant use rental boots here cause they're hard plastic and give my feet huge blisters, no matter what i do... i even tried wearing foam padding under my socks)
I think i progressed so fast because:
~ Skating in Indonesia is FAR cheaper than Australia, so i was able to go more often.
~ I had a private lesson, just me and the coach for half an hour a week (often went over, to about 45 mins or even an hour sometimes)
~ I spent about three days a week on ice, meaning usually about 16 hours of ice time a week or more
~ It was a small rink, so there was no session times.. from 10am~9pm was a public session every day.
~ During these times, EVEN out side of the lesson, you could still get tips from the coaches, they wouldn't give you a lesson, but would help you out with your technique with a few pointers
~ Skating in the morning (from about 10am-12:30pm) I would have the ice to myself.. yep,, JUST me in the rink. (it was a small rink tho.. hehe)
one thing that did hold me back tho... hire skates.
