I achieved visiting a rink new to me - Slough. I never went to the old Slough. The new one is as you'd expect - a corrugated steel thing - functional. Ice was decent, entry price not too bad (£11 something but you get 2.5 hours for that). Quiet daytime morning public session, usual collection of entitled feeling figure skaters and their even more entitled feeling coaches, and some nice, unassuming people too. It felt quite unsafe - lessons with high level skaters, dancers and people doing double jumps going on, running programs to music, alongside some random public skaters and people on wheelchairs. A portion of the rink was coned off for beginner 1-1 lessons but was hardly used - a waste. I won't be rushing back - but I don't like ice rinks. Probably OK for those that do.
