Backspin progress! Coach says if what I’m doing now becomes nice and consistent then it’s enough to be signed off on gold :)

Managed to keep my free leg in the underpush position while holding an edge after a crossover, forwards and backwards.  Don't ask me why I am attempting it, just seems like a thing one ought to be able to do.

Oh my goodness, what a brilliant day/week you're all having!

My achievement is being able to skate for an hour and a half on patch AND an hour public session, without having any pain in my poor, swollen, arthritic feet. I seem to have adjusted to my new boots at last. And it's only Monday!
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

NOT having trouble with ones feet/boots should not be underestimated.  My chum has given up figure skating for now and gone to hockey skates (and wheels) because of foot issues, and my little toe is coming out in sympathy - it must be contagious.

I was allowed to try my loop jump away from the barrier :)

I’ve also had a breakthrough with getting my knee on the ice in a drag. I can only do it going super slowly at the minute though.

Also shadowed and assisted my coach in my friend’s lesson as part of my assistant coaching course with Inclusive Skating and had a great time, even if I felt out of my depth!

Recent achievements are:
More backspin progress - not there yet but inching ever closer
Loop is now off the barrier. Doesn’t always rotate or land on the right foot 😂 But, no more barrier!
Second video assessment filmed for my assistant coaching course with Inclusive Skating, and it was a pretty successful lesson, I think.

I managed to get that edge crunching noise on my deep right back inside edges.  Have always been able to do that just fine on my left foot, have been trying for 10 years to even it up.  I struggle to feel what I am doing differently and to any observer it looks the same.
