Thanks Christine, you're right, when I started skating I thought I'd never be brave enough to even bunny hop, so it's quite a big improvement for me!

Actually bunny hops still scare me and it's only when the coach is very firm with me that I do them  ;D

I haven't achieved anything yet but am about to go to the rink for an easy couple of hours.

Not ideal, I know, but better than nothing.  I had surgery (general anaesthetic, inpatient) for a painful problem on Friday night and I'm supposed to be taking it easy.  At least my knees (Runner's knee) have sorted themselves out and are no longer painful or likely to give way.

Skate UK start: 24/02/09
Met The Ice Mouse: 27/03/09
Broke wrist: 24/04/09
NISA L1 FM pass: 29/03/10
English Style Prelim test: 7/08/11
Working on: L2, L3, L4 FM, L1 Comp.Dance

Take it easy and don't overdo it but enjoy being back on the ice and hope that you are no longer in pain.   :)

Maybe we should start a medical thread for all of us crocks out there  ;)

Thanks Christine, I think a medical thread would be really useful - not just for skating injuries.

I've had a great couple of hours on the ice and am in absolutely no pain or discomfort from the surgery (lateral sphincterotomy) or the skating.  My knees are so much better too that I can actually manage a straight line on just my left foot which I couldn't last week.  I'm skipping things which are likely to cause me problems but the skating I'm doing at the moment is very basic and very low impact.  Still a great way to get fit though!

I'm looking forward to another private lesson tomorrow morning and my first Skate UK lesson tomorrow evening.  After that I'll be back on the ice in Oxford during the day on Friday.

I had my first lesson this week after falling down stairs early January and badly spraining my ankle. Everything seemed to go well, just my timing on my flip a bit off. Coach even started to show me level 3 field moves :o Wow outside mowhawks are hard!!
Between just under 2 months off ice and outside mowhawks jeeeze my legs are hurting  ;D Great to be back on the ice though  O0 ;D

Oh not much although I have moved up a level as I carelessly (not very) mentioned in another thread so three turns etc here I come.  By the way, are backwards chassés on circle done on inside edge as forwards ones are?  Just thought I'd ask :)
