Concussion

Although this is in relation to rugby, I'd thought I highlight this;

Published March 23rd 2021.

In short, they're testing saliva for chemicals indicative of concussion.

Concussion has been mentioned on this board previously, regarding spins/jumps/falls;
also present in ice hockey, and short track speed skating; long track is probably more safe.

Question for the coaches; has there been much coverage from the NGBs regarding concussions?
Does the required First Aid course currently cover it in much detail?

To add; a recent (22nd July) report published regarding concussion in sport.

https://committees.parliament.uk/work/977/concussion-in-sport/news/

"62. We recommend that the Government immediately mandate the Health and Safety Executive to work with National Governing Bodies of all sports to establish, by July 2022, a national framework for the reporting of sporting injuries."

There is paraphrased evidence from an ice hockey player (Monica Petrosino) in the report.
