Very snazzy.  That most certainly is the Palace - got a feeling the couple is Sasha Fear (Lilah's younger sister) and George Waddell.

In the DVD bonus features of the film Miracle there's a 'making of' documentary.

The film is well worth a watch btw; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_(2004_film))

They developed a slide-cam, dolly-on-ice; camera & the operator is pushed by skaters, to get closer to the game.

I hadn't appreciated that he used to be a figure skater.  It makes so much sense.  Also didn't realised he had filmed for DOI.  I didn't realise Michelle Kwan was still skating - she's in one of his recent videos, looking in great shape.  Shame they can't film competitions like this too - it would look so much more interesting.

Yep; for safety though you'd need to know the program in advance; perhaps an aerial camera would be better:

Definitely would help the technical panel with a clearer view.

One sport I've noticed that is investing in similar such technology is cricket;

I've seen those cameras used in tennis, and cricket, and indeed any additional perspective is good to have.  But I still think it doesn't beat the POV of actually feeling you are following them around on the ice as a skater yourself.

I used to watch a lot of tennis and always prefer the court-level films posted by spectators on YouTube to professional coverage because it gives a much better sense of how fast they are moving, how fast the ball is coming.

The same goes for film of people doing rollerblading "flow" videos which are often filmed by people on scooters or bikes, following, or by the skater themselves with a selfie stick.
