I read about this back in August and was quickly underwhelmed by the size of the proposed rink...
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

Yeah 17m x 34m is a bit small for regular pattern/compulsory dances.

That 'artist’s impression' looks a bit wrong, considering full sized hockey circles are 30 feet / 9 metres diameter; so for a mini rink those hockey players must be tiny!

I've been trying to find out (because I can't remember) the size of the Gosport rink, where I used to teach and actually do a lot of my training.  So far, I've failed dismally.

Looks to be full size? 26x56 <-> 30x60

Use the measuring tool -> right-click on the corner of the building -> Measure distance
Building appears roughly 60 metres by 36 metres; inside looks fairly minimal.

Oh, good lord, no.  It's definitely nowhere near full size.  Not International let alone Olympic.  It's really very small.

Honestly, Gosport is nowhere near that.  Not even close.  It's the same size as the old Aldershot rink.  Tiny.

I am fairly sure that Gosport is not full size. It didn't appear to be when I was there.

I prefer frozen ice. I will try anything once. I

Wow, so scheduled opening is next Tuesday, 4th May; under 18s only at the moment. Good luck to them!

Erratum:
I got the location slightly wrong in the original post, should be roughly;
51°24'59"N 0°46'6"W
51°24'58"N 0°46'7"W

Off topic: Thatcham's Ice Sports Centre, which looked to be a fairly similar setup, small size & specialized training, still looks closed;
