Test and Trace
« on: September 28, 2020, 09:19:16 am »
Planet Ice are saying that they are enforcing the covid 19 test and trace app.

Does this mean that you will be refused entry to the venue if you don’t have it? What do you do if you don’t have a compatible phone?

Many thanks.

AFAIK the official government policy is that venues need to offer an alternative (they take your details on paper) though I can see a lot of places not wanting to do that because it would fall under GDPR and give them a headache handling the data.

I'll not be going near any rink or any other place that requires details, ever again.

https://ico.org.uk/global/data-protection-and-coronavirus-information-hub/coronavirus-recovery-data-protection-advice-for-organisations/collecting-customer-and-visitor-details-for-contact-tracing/#QRcode

"Visitors, customers or staff can scan a QR code instead of providing their details to the venue, but you should not force anyone to download a contact tracing app."

Some parts of the UK might be different; give them a call beforehand and explain the situation and ask what is possible.

Make a note of everything; time, date, name of person etc; And it is important to remain calm/polite at all times.

Another thing to keep in mind is to read & take a copy of the terms and conditions when booking; read the small print.

If you book/pay you have entered into a legal contract.

If the venue denies entry (no app) and refuses to refund, and didn't state that it was a requirement in the contract you entered into you need to contact the Financial Ombudsman;

I know at Uttoxeter, for patch anyway, they have your details from your booking. So if you don't have the app they can use those - and have added this to the patch booking T&Cs I believe. Can't say for other sessions as I do have the app and only do show & skate, I avoid public sessions.

I was at planet ice today. Booked online. Didn't have to scan the app. It was moderately busy, but fun.
