Regarding insurance for businesses (like ice rinks) there is a legal case of note:

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-insurers-court/uk-businesses-not-covered-for-pandemic-insurers-tell-supreme-court-idUKKBN27W1XL
https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/corporate/bi-insurance-test-case-qbe-appeal-written-case.pdf

At the moment it looks like the insurance cover is for losses within a 25 mile radius of the business premises, not nationally.
It's in progress however.

I'm absolutely with them on that.  It would be madness to open.  The costs of running that facility are massive and they would sustain huge losses.  Sad but we really have to hope that one or more of the vaccines prove effective and make the sport that we love an option again.
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.

I'd be cautious about taking any vaccine.  They usually take years to be tested thoroughly, and I don't see how that process can be accelerated as it's about monitoring how people react to it over an extended period, not just a couple of months.

The Pfizer vaccine was due to finish trials in 2021 - only Stage 1 has been completed, and there were due to be two more stages.  If it is released now, the Stage 2 and 3 trials will be conducted on the general population.

The Pfizer vaccine has a completely novel delivery mechanism, and has only been tested on healthy people who in general are at very low risk anyway, and there has been no measurement of whether the vaccine makes people less infectious, only on whether it mitigates symptoms.

There are people such as myself who have health issues in their history which mean a vaccine will not be appropriate, and I am likely to be excluded from a lot normal life because activities and travel will require a vaccine certificate.  Ticketmaster and the Premier League are already discussing this.

We'll have masks and social distancing and prebooking only and the rule of six for many many years to come so I am not convinced ice rinks will be economically sustainable.

Certainly not my intention to bring anyone down - I was just responding to an earlier post and expressing my personal view.  I would urge everyone to look into the matter for themselves and not take my word for it - or anyone else's.  It's your body.

To add Gibraltar; looks like they have a permit system based on the premises & mondis operandi; interesting.
..
However King's Bastion ice rink is currently closed for maintenance; http://www.kingsbastion.gov.gi/ice-skating.php

Sorry to report that Gibraltar's ice rink has closed permanently;

To remind you that yesterdays UKGov announcement regarding the new tiers in England is a proposal.

It looks like the MPs are planning to vote on this next week;
https://calendar.parliament.uk/calendar/Commons/All/2020/12/1/Daily
Tuesday 01 December 2020 Main Chamber 11.30 am

NISA/BIS has posted a few news items recently regarding this; https://www.iceskating.org.uk/news
They are trying to keep rinks open, and encourage your contact with your local MP regarding this issue.

A way to write to your local MP, and to the PM;

To add, here is the results for the previous vote for the current lockdown;
