Any UK Rink Closures Due to Corona Virus?
« on: March 15, 2020, 11:19:30 AM »
Hi, I'm in the US.  The hot topic on US-centric skating forums appears to be rink closures due to corona virus.  How's skating life over your side of the pond?

Plymouth are talking about sessions for Mother's Day next Sunday, so no signs of panic or closure here yet...

I'm teasy enough about Worlds being cancelled and am now having all the fun and games of trying to claw back some of my travel expenses because I can't go.  Closing my rink would be akin to rationing pasties in the Cornish Scale of Teasy...
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Graf Dance boots and MK Phantom Para blades. It's still a bit slippery.

Scotland has banned events with a gathering of over 500 people this week.

Such bans might affect hockey matches/playoffs?
Sliding on frozen water is the easy part of ice skating.

I got in a nice couple of hours public skate at Planet Ice Peterborough this afternoon. And I was the only person on the rink! Which was bliss! But not for the management I expect. Speaking to the employees they said there's no plans to close at the mo, but with the situation changing several times daily, I'll be surprised if my weekend lesson will still go ahead.

Queens, Sheffield, Time Capsule, Hamilton, East Kilbride, Nottingham, Grimsby (albeit for maintenance), The Peak in Stirling, Dundee. Ally Pally...  I believe all the Planet Ice rinks are staying open until they have no choice.
