What skates for passport ice dance?
« on: December 05, 2019, 01:13:13 pm »
I'm almost done the learn to skate levels (the old one that goes to level 10) and I'm thinking I want to do ice dance for passport. I'm currently on Jackson mystiques and I'm 173 cm and about 143 pounds. Will the mystiques be good for passport or would it make it more difficult? If so what skates should I get. Thanks!

I'm not sure why you think that Mystiques would make dance more difficult.  You absolutely don't need specialised dance boots when you start dance.  Dance boots are a relatively modern phenomenon - Torvill and Dean didn't have them!  If you're worried that your boots need replacing, just ask your coach.  If you decide to specialise in ice dance after passport, then you might want to consider dance boots and/or blades, but for the moment they're really not necessary.  See how you get on with the discipline first.   :)
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.
