English Style - The Royal Skating Club
« on: June 03, 2019, 02:16:53 pm »
For figure skaters within reach of Guildford who are interested in skating figures in the more formal style as it was done before the International Style was introduced by Jackson Haines, sessions will be starting for the summer on Sunday 9 June on the new ice pad.  This session only will start at 8.15 am to 10.15 am.  Then it will be every Sunday from 16 June to Sunday 18 August, 6.30 am to 8.30 am.  It is a bit early I’m afraid!

The website is not working at the moment but information about the club can be found on the Facebook page, en-gb.facebook.com.  There are videos showing the skating style which is done with arms at the side of the body.  The shoulders have to do the work!

The first two sessions are free to newcomers.  On the first week, entrance to the rink will be via Reception and then down the stairs to the rink.  After that entrance is at the back of the rink via the underground car park.

A few years ago the Club was featured in the BBC programme, The Secret Life of Ice but not sure if this is available now.

Please ask if you would like more information.
