I see Better are due to manage it.  Can't say that news fills me with joy based on my experiences with them elsewhere.  From what I have seen the rinks still run directly by councils tend to be better managed.

It's open as of this August Bank holiday weekend. Free skating apparently on the Bank Holiday Monday.

Yay, it's finally opening! :-)

I'd echo transmissionoftheflame's comments too.

Interesting construction also; looks like a steel frame with big concrete lego bricks, plus glued laminated timber roof supports.
The greatest trick figure skaters ever pulled, was convincing the world it was easy.

Can't be any worse than Planet Ice, surely?  Oh.  Wait.  <looks in the direction of Plymouth>  Yeah...
Returned to the ice in Sept 2017 after a major leg injury in 1999. Skating in Jackson Elite Pro & MK Vision Syncro. Still scary after all these years.
