Risport Boots - outer surface smells awful
« on: November 06, 2018, 10:54:55 AM »
I bought a pre-loved pair of RF3s for my daughter (they are only size 205 so only worn by a little one)
There is no smell on the inside but the outside of the boot smells like cat wee.
They have been sitting out in my garage for the last week or so and the smell is still there.  Anybody any ideas of how to get the smell away.

I have read that smells can be removed or reduced by placing the smelly item in a box with a bowl of vinegar, ground coffee or activated charcoal. However I would be concerned that vinegar fumes might damage the leather, or discolour any steel components. You could wipe them with a rag soaked in vinegar, then dry them off, that is okay. There are sprays you can buy, Febreze for example, which are used by ice hockey players, as our kits can sometimes get extremely honky.
