Skating on TV via Internet
« on: October 13, 2013, 02:56:59 pm »
Hi.

This is my first post, so apologies if it has been mentioned before:

Does anyone know how I can get a link to streams of skating events taking place around the world such as Skate America and other ISU competitions please?  :)

There is IceNetwork.com, but most events are geo-blocked so available US only.  British Eurosport usually shows most or all of the Grand Prix series plus Euros, 4 Continents and Worlds, and Olympics, and they have a Player you can subscribe to.  A lot of stuff gets put on Youtube pretty quickly, notably by these nice people who break whole competitions up into order as playlists: http://www.youtube.com/user/LaRiservaISUMondiali - (very good) commentary in Italian, but it is in HD.
ISU put the Junior GP series on Youtube.

I subscribe to IceNetwork.com.  I didn't realize it was just US-based, though.  I'm in the USA.

I like Eurosport as it is usually possible to see the best of each competition and compare and contrast and see if I agree with the judges and/or the commentators. Unfortunately if you record to watch later you sometimes don't get the scheduled competition and other sports knock out the skating. But watching quality skating on TV is a minority interest. The viewing figures are not good considering the incredible level of skill involved.

idealweb.tv will be streaming some competitions held in Italy this autumn/winter, including Italian nationals and Merano cup, which features Tomas Verner and a few Brits.
I watched Italian nationals last year and quality was fine and it was not geo-blocked (I am in UK).
