Braehead Spring Skating Camp
« on: January 23, 2013, 07:06:53 pm »
Hi,

The camp is designed for skaters with at least skate UK gold passport, working towards NISA level tests, through to international level skaters training triple jumps.

One day.....

Just waiting to find out if there is also a separate adult camp. Last year there was and it was a lower level than this.

How ironic I check this now, I've literally just had reply.... Adults is still separate they're still confirming coaches. Will be out shortly :)

I would love to go a camp like that but was wondering:
- how many hours is spent on the ice per day? off-the-ice?
- is it ok for adults?
Started Mar 12 - NISA 1 FM

Can't remember cost... Try to block that one out in fact can't remember how much Ice time it was. Either I think it was about two hours on and an hour or two off.... But please don't quote me cause I might be completely wrong!
As a jumping person we started at salchow and went up to lutz.... As that fit the majority of adults if there had been more wanting higher it may have been different I don't know... There was also a non jumpy group who worked on more turns and steps I think:-) sorry lots of I thinks but I just can't clearly remember... :-(

Forms have been sent out today, folks. £165 for three days. No indications on the exact amount of on-ice/off-ice time, but:

"The camp is for everyone. We intend that the camp be an enjoyable learning experience. Skaters will be divided into groups of equal proficiency.  We will teach beginners who are learning to go backward through to Adult competitors focusing on the more challenging aspects of skating."

"On-ice classes will focus on jump technique, spinning and edge work along with IJS specific classes. Off-ice classes will include IJS lectures, stretching and strength conditioning."

Mark Hanretty is involved in it this year.

Exciting! Do you have the link to the form, Lindsey?

Still haven't decided whether to do it or not. It's my birthday on March 1st so I could ask for money towards it, but I'm wondering whether or not to wait until next year when I will hopefully be properly into my jumps/spins and would therefore get more out of it  :-\
