Blade sharpener

any one got a reccomendation for a reputable person who does blade sharpening?

the guy who i usually go to is away at the moment and my skates desperatley need a sharpening, typical lol!

Depends where you are.  We sharpen for "Dancing on Ice" show and tour  and are based in Blackburn.

i am looking for somwhere in the west midlands

so i think blackburn may be a little bit too far

Hi Abbi, you could try Dreamskate, based in Nottingham, he was trained by John Turner a few years ago so I know he's good. www.dreamskate.com, hope that helps.  also stocks loads of skating goodies, boots, tights etc. :D

West midlands yay! i can help, lol. There is a sharening place at Telford in the shop. They are very good and the blades are sharpend very well there.

Cannock ice rink sharpen blades - Not as good....it depends whos working to sharpen them as not every one is apprantly ment to use the wheel.

I dont know if coventry do, but they are a big rink with clubs so i shold think they do. Also solhihull rink in birmimngham.

One of the coaches at Coventry does them (Richard) not expensive (£5-£6?) and they are well done, but he does them at home, so you need to wait for him to bring them back in ...

There is also a local shop which is hockey based (the hockey locker), and although my experiences there have  been good, I think it was the owner himself who has ground mine.

thanks for your advice everyone :)

i can still make a mark on my fingernails with the blade, so im hoping that they will last for my lesson tomorrow and then i will have 4 days to sort them out.

not sure when my usual sharpener comes back, but i am hoping its soon!

ill have a look on mulitmap.com to find out which of the suggested places is closest for me

ill let you know how i get on

John turner does blades sharpening but do not let the ice rink have them.
