The basic skills referred to are kneebend, posture, extension and flexibility but these are given in the form of exercises such as holding the extensions in big held edges.  holding and extending positions in back crossovers while working on posture at the same time.  Flexibility involved trying advanced types of spirals (Y spiral for example).  Exercises involving combinations of steps including mohawks with extensions, runs, steps to forward  etc and some work on spins.

I'm not sure what level the lowest level skaters were but if you are not comfortable with holding extended edges and crossovers forwards and backwards and mohawks etc you would not get a lot out of it.  If you are comfortable with those then it is a great way to really practice those things (extension posture and kneebend in particular) which can really make you look like a 'skater' rather than an 'adult skater'

Note that this is not a camp to learn any of the elements of skate UK but to do intensive work on improving skills skaters already have.

Intermediate is for those who attended the July camp or who will do the September basic skills camp first.

How many hours do we get on Ice and off ice training, as after Madrid no more messing about for me as its only hard training and no more talking while I am training.

Many thanks

Places are limited for the  camps and the closing date for Sept 22/23rd is getting close (Aug31st).
I can fully recommend this camp. The coaches are really supportive of adult skaters- really pushing us to be the best we can be! They are really lovely people too!!! If anyone is interested and has any queries facebook message Mark Hanretty or pm me and I will forward his email address.
It is so worth it!!!! O0

Hi,

I'm sure batikat has already answered this question, but I would just like a second opinion from anybody else who attended the July basic camp.

I have yet to complete SK UK after 4 years, progress as you can tell is painfully slow  :( .

I struggle to do forward crossovers 'on demand', can't do backward chasses, crossovers or mohawks, nor can I do the forward outside 3 turn. So I guess I would be out of my depth at this camp and would just end up demoralised?

Thanks

Paul
