Guildford Spectrum Ice Rink

For times look here: http://www.guildfordicecoaches.co.uk/ and click on Training Ice.  This is a new website and the coaches haven’t had their new photos taken and some coaches haven’t got their names showing.

To practice on training ice, we have to be having private lessons and register for “Skate Direct”.  The coach has to sign the registration form stating the ability level.  No minimum level on “Patch Ice” and “Adult Ice”

Price:
Registration fee £47.10 (once only) then £41 monthly by direct debit, or annually (pay for 11 months) this includes all public sessions and 15% discount on hot drinks!
or
£5.70 a time plus an annual subscription fee of £29.70
Non-registered guests can come but I don’t know the price for this.
No booking necessary

Streatham Patch Times (partial)

I only know for sure about weekday mornings - it is from when the rink opens (6.30 ish) to 10.30 Tuesday to Friday. I know there is afternoon patch most afternoons from 4ish to 7 (I think), but don't hold me to it! Weekends I think are 6.30 - 930 before the group classes.

As far as I can tell you are allowed onto patch whatever level of skater you are as long as you ask a coach nicely - especially if you skate later in the morning patch when all the children have gone. I wouldn't recommend doing the busy patch sessions (afternoons and weekends) as a beginner though.

You are probably expected to be having lessons with one of the coaches if you are using patch regularly - but I started using patch before having lessons - as long as you are polite, considerate and friendly towards the coaches there wouldn't be a problem if you weren't. Just find a coach and ask before you start to skate and you'll be fine.

Cost £6 per session paid to your coach (or whichever coach you asked for permission)

Queens Ice Rink

Tuesday - Friday 6:30 (ish) - 9:45 Costs £5 or free for members, but you can only go on if you have a lesson then.
Saturday 6:30 - 9:00 (I think, there are childrens classes) There is also a dance interval at 10:45 (quite hectic)
Sunday 6:30 - 9:45 (again, must have a lesson) Also a dance interval at 11:00 (much less hectic)

To add to Ice Cream's post at Basingstoke...

Tues and Thurs pm - 4.15-6.00pm

Saturday starter patch - NISA level 4 and below

Sunday - 6-8.30am, club follows

Patch ticket - £4 for full session.

Patch booklet  - £40 (10+1 tickets)

Monthly patch pass - £60

You need to sign in and put ticket in tin (on side of barrier) if skating before the box office opens (at 9am?)

You always need to make sure there are 2 coaches within the building before getting on the ice (unless just your coach is in)  :-\

No rules on music (those in lessons obviously have priority).
BAC 2011 - Bronze free - Silver :)

Alexandra Palace

N.B. These are the 'official' rules, but I expect if you ask a coach nicely they will let you skate even if you are not having lessons.

Day   Time   Cost   Grade
Monday   06:00 – 08:30   £6.00   NISA 1
Monday   08:45 – 10:45   £6.00   Ungraded
Tuesday   06:00 – 08:30   £6.00   NISA 1
Tuesday   08:45 – 10:45   £6.00   Ungraded
Tuesday   17:45 – 20:30   £6.00   Bronze Skate UK
& above
Wednesday   06:00 – 08:30   £6.00   NISA 1
Wednesday   08:45 – 10:30   £6.00   Ungraded
Wednesday   17:45 – 19:15   £6.00   Ungraded
Thursday   06:00 – 08:30   £6.00   NISA 1
Thursday   08:45 – 10:45   £6.00   Ungraded
Thursday   17:45 – 19:00   £6.00   Bronze Skate UK & above
Friday   06:00 – 08:30   £6.00   NISA 1

Saturday   06:00 – 08.15   £6.00   Bronze Skate UK
& above
Saturday   12:45 – 13:45   £4.00   Ungraded
Sunday   06:00 – 08:00   £6.00   Bronze Skate UK
& above
Sunday   12:45 – 13:45   £4.00   Ungraded

Ungraded patches are for skaters who have passed Skate UK level 6 and above.

Patch ice can only be used if the patch registration form has been completed and signed by an Alexandra Palace Skating Coach.
This form will need to be renewed annually.

I think this is broadly accurate.  AFAIK there are no minimum levels.  Haven't done morning patch but expect it has more advanced skaters but have seen virtual beginners in evening sessions.  These are the most accurate times I have:

generally it's weekday mornings 6 or 6.30-10.30am (9.30 finish on weekends)
Afternoon/ evening:
Tues: 4.30-7.00pm ('Figure Club' 7-8 for £7.50..annual membership etc)
Weds: 6.45-8pm.
Thursday: 4.30-7.00pm then 'Dance club' 'til 8pm.
Friday: 4.30-6pm.

streatham patch ice as told today by head coach:

mornings:
tue, wed, thu, fri 6-10.30
sat, sun 6.30-9

evenings:
tue, thu 4.30-7
wed 7-8
fri 4.30-6

from what i know you pay your coach if you have a lesson and if no lesson you pay head coach. dont think there is any restriction on levels.

I think this is broadly accurate.  AFAIK there are no minimum levels.  Haven't done morning patch but expect it has more advanced skaters but have seen virtual beginners in evening sessions.  These are the most accurate times I have:

Friday: 4.30-6pm.
