Apparently in Altrinkham, they don't advertise patch times anymore because they get the general public turning up in droves wanting to skate on it because the they don't understand the concept. Altrinkham is Silver Blades. Silver Blades and Planet Ice are sort of sister companies, it's a couple of mates that own them.

I don't know about other PI rinks, but at Brixton the patch ice is paid for and managed by the coaches.  PI get money for the ice time via coaches' rent, and the ice is available to coaches to do what they will with it, so I don't think PI are very interested in it.  It's a shame, IMO.

at least the lady in the ticket office knew the patch times.

I need to find out patch times for my rink for when school hoidays are on - I'll pay the extra £2 for a lesson there and not risk being run over by a small child/hockey skater/fool out of control on hire skates...

Anyone got details for Coventry? I'm spending a weekend there in April and was thinking of taking my skates.

Tuesday 6-9am, 12-1pm, 3.15-5.30pm
Wednesday 6-10am, 12-1pm
Thursday 6-10am, 12-1pm, 4.15-6.15pm
Friday 6-10am, 12-1pm
Saturday 6-8.30am

Patch is £5 per hour (not per session) and you do not have to book in advance. Patch is paid to coaches to pass on to the manager.

I don't know for sure, but I think any coach will do, I suggest you speak to the coach you have for your group lessons.

Does anybody skate at Queensway in London? :-)
It doesn't matter how bad the day/week is as soon as I'm on the ice and hear the sound of my blades it's all good. Nothing else matters on the ice!

Used to do the odd public session, stopped now (expensive, didn't like the ice or the music or the atmosphere or the people).  Did you want to know about patch?  Think it is generally mornings only, maybe one or two evenings between 6.45 and 8 in the week, Monday is hockey at that time, Weds and Thurs is drop-in classes for adults, maybe other weekdays are Skate UK?
Lots of people have lessons on public there, weekdays before 6.45 ice is full of coaches and their pupils, quite awful IMO.

I am not aware of any major changes to AP patch arrangements.  Until end of August there's elite patch (need at least NISA 6 in at least one discipline) on Mondays 5.45-7.  As Sunday club doesn't run during summer Sunday morning patch might run until the public session, possibly same on Saturdays.  Often Sunday lunch patch is suspended in the runup to Christmas to allow for show rehearsals.
